EOS 5D Mark IV: Canon’s maiden 4K video recording and Dual Pixel Raw format

Broadening its line of full-frame cameras, Canon introduced the latest EOS 5D Mark IV last September 29 at Samsung Hall, SM Aura Premiere in BGC.

The industry-leading EOS 5D series is known for its progressive imaging technology and exceptional performance. And with the launch of the EOS 5D Mark IV, Canon takes image quality a notch higher.

The new Canon EOS 5D Mark IV sports a 30.4 megapixel full-frame high-sensitivity sensor and Dual Pixel CMOS AF for rapid focusing speed to deliver exceptional performance in both stills and 4K video shooting.

Canon highlights its Dual Pixel Raw (DPRAW) format, a first in Canon’s range of cameras, and 4K frame grabs features. This new version of RAW image data contains Dual Pixel information that enables photographers to make precise adjustments in post-production like maximum sharpness and resolution position based on the depth of subject, viewpoint reposition to horizontally shift the foreground bokeh, as well as ghosting and flare effects reduction in images.

“It is evident with the new EOS 5D Mark IV that epitomizes the prowess of full-frame performance, addressing the evolving needs of professional users. It offers versatility in both stills and videos with high quality image capture and sharp Digital Cinema initiatives (DCI) 4K video recording,” said Vinchy Sanchez, Director for Consumer Group of Canon Marketing Philippines. “Moreover, significant additions like the 4K frame grab capabilities will enable users to challenge their boundaries and explore new possibilities.”

The Michael Ori-led group, Ori Media, a renowned imaging and filmmaking agency from the United States, gave a comprehensive workshop attended by topnotch photographers in the country and select Canon users.

Ori Media demonstrated the technical features of the camera through a live demo, as well as let the audience take the first peek at their latest fashion narrative “Solemn Oath” shot entirely on the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV. They also showed how to take advantage of the camera’s features for wedding, fashion, landscape and portrait photography, and some techniques in pulling high-res stills from motion for the benefit of anyone who is in the photo and video production business.

“Canon evolves together with the needs of its user. With every product that we launch, just like this very powerful EOS 5D Mark IV, we keep in mind how it will fuel every individual’s passion and success through the power of vivid images and motion,” said Sanchez.

The unit price of the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV is at Php 170,998 (body only); Php 206,998 (with 24 – 70mm L ISU Kit); and Php 213,998 (with 24 – 105mm L II ISU Kit).
